Nick Vucjicic-Our Hero!

‘All Courage and no Tears,
This man deserves three Cheers!’

What kind of life a human being can live who is unfortunate to have no hands and legs? Can we ever imagine the intensity of pain that person has to endure? Can that man ever lead a normal and contended life? Well, there is a very well-known proverb in English which says that, ‘only the wearer knows where the shoe bites.’ This proverb applies well to a person who is indeed inspirational and is no less than a fighter whose desire to live life like a normal person under unusual circumstances has touched the hearts of the millions out there. He is none other than Nick Vucjicic and with utmost respect I regard him as the ‘man who can dance in storm.’ I got acquainted with this person when one of my friends sent me a video in whatsapp which depicted how beautifully he performs his day to day activities and I feel there is no job that exists in which he cannot succeed. Whether it is swimming or playing golf, every task is merely a cakewalk for him. Of course it would not have been that easy, it requires a strong determination and mental strength to overcome all the barriers and lead a normal life like others. But Mr.Vucjicic proved himself as a warrior and has put forth an important message in front of the entire world that, ‘impossible is the word in the dictionary of fools!’ By watching his video, I have realized that our body is our temple and we always take it for granted. Whether it is the internal organs or exterior parts, each and every thing is a golden gift, gifted to us by God and it is our duty to take care of it and nurture it till our last breath. Those who are unfortunate to be handicapped or are suffering from polio only know how it feels like from inside when every day is life or death situation for them.

I recollect a chapter from my English textbook during my tenth standard. It was named as ‘Accept good and bad with gratitude.’ There was a thought-provoking example at the end of the text. A beautiful Chrysanthemum flower was growing in an old, dusty bucket. Here, I compare the flower with the beautiful soul of Mr. Vucjicic and the bucket with his small body.
“Here’s a beautiful one,’’ God might have said when he reached the soul of Mr.Vucjicic, “he would not mind starting in a small body.”
